Exploring the Rhine: Möhlin/Schwörstadt – Kaiseraugst/Herten
Informationen zur Route
Best Time of Year
Description
We cycle along the Rhine and are often on shady forest paths. The route alternates between asphalt and natural road. Various resting places or inns in the communities invite you to linger. Those who want or can no longer continue can end the route early on both sides of the Rhine and take the train at one of the many stations.
A highlight is also the ferry between Kaiseraugst and Herten. However, the operating times of the ferry vary greatly depending on the season. Information about the timetable is available on the website of the municipality of Kaiseraugst: Ferry timetable. If it doesn't operate, we cross the Rhine downstream at the Augst – Wyhlen power plant. The power plant is unique as it consists of a joint reservoir and a power plant on both the Swiss and German sides. And maybe we'll just see a large ship passing through the lock on the Swiss side?
