Description

The hike over the Beichlengfähl to Hilfernthal provides magnificent views. The detour on the high-level trail to the Beichlenkreuz "Bösarni" is well worth it. You will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view. Not only can you see the surrounding mountains from here, including the Bernese Alps, but you can also see as far as the Jura chain or Feldberg (Germany). The ascent involves a few meters in altitude, but nature makes up for it, for example with a fantastic variety of plants or shady forests. After the summit visit, the descent follows via the Hilfern Pass through marshy moorland to Flühli.

You start the hiking tour at Escholzmatt railroad station, which you leave in a southerly direction (Hutten-Beichlengfähl hiking trail). After the Alpach farm, the trail is marked as a mountain hiking trail. After a short ascent, you reach the Hutten range of hills and already have a beautiful view of the mountains. Continue along the marked path through fields and woods until you reach Beichlengfähl. Here you turn left onto the dirt road. After approx. 100 m you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Alps and as far as the Black Forest. There is also a lovely barbecue area here for a lunch break. The detour on the high-level trail to the Beichlenkreuz offers you a fabulous panoramic view. After visiting the summit, hike back a short distance on the same hiking trail. At the first junction, take the hiking trail towards Flühli and hike via Ober Schwarzeberg and Bärfalle towards the Hilfern Pass. Here you walk through marshy moorland, lined with purple orchids or white cotton grass, depending on the season, down to Flühli.

Experience the Hilferntal in two days Take your time and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Hilferntal for two days. The Naturfreundehaus Schrattenblick is beautifully nestled in the Hilferntal valley, just a few minutes' walk from the descent route. You can even have breakfast and a simple evening meal with Älplermagronen delivered, so you don't need to "lug along" any food. Information directly at the Naturfreundehaus Schrattenblick.
