Description

The start is at the valley station of the Chur mountain railways. From here, riders and bikes can reach the starting point Brambrüesch quickly and comfortably with the two gondola lifts of the Chur – Brambrüesch mountain railways. The climb to Malixeralp is optional (entry also possible directly at the gondola station after a short climb to the trail), but it is worth it for several reasons: The 160 meters of elevation gain are quickly overcome on the moderately steep alpine road, Malixeralp is a rewarding viewpoint, and the fun of the descent already begins here. From there, follow the hiking trail directly downhill towards Brambrüesch and after a short time turn left onto a forest road which leads fairly flat to a forest clearing. At this point, enter the hiking trail that comes from the Spundisköpfe and follow it relatively steeply downhill on soft forest ground to the antenna. Here turn left and follow the hiking trail towards Känzeli. This narrow trail has it all: it runs surprisingly flat and flowy through a remote and steep terrain. It goes up and down slightly now and then, and only rarely do you have to really brake. There is a real flow when riding through this magic forest – but don’t get too carried away and lose concentration, as there are partially exposed spots. Roots and stones also make this trail technically interesting – much harder to ride in wet conditions than when dry.

Below the mid-station of the mountain railways (Känzeli) the path leads directly at the steep curve into the forest road. From there you can either take the black or the blue route of the Alpenbikepark for the further descent to the tunnels (or the popular combination black–blue with a short connecting section over the street). Our track continues along the blue route downhill; so follow the forest road for about 200 meters and then turn left and follow the blue signage “Chur Flow.” This route is very varied and also rideable for less experienced riders. However, several steep more difficult variants with jumps tempt, so everyone gets their money’s worth. When you reach Rosenhügel, ride downhill on the street and turn left before Welschdörfli and follow the signs to the valley station of the mountain railways. For those who want and can, there’s an option to tack on another lap…
