Description
From Weinfelden, the Eastern Swiss Wine Route quickly leads through the green Thur floodplains to Bischofszell. Not only is a break in the picturesque old town, decorated with countless rose bushes, worthwhile, but with the Typorama Museum and the historic paper machine once powered by hydropower, the town also offers an interesting piece of industrial history.
Next, the route continues to Hauptwil. Traces of the long-past heyday of (textile) industry can also be discovered there. Finally, the cantonal border is crossed and the route leads to Gossau in the so-called Fürstenland, characterized by deep stream incisions, and then on to the destination in the monastery city of St. Gallen.
