Description

This challenging circular route starts on the north side at Chur train station. From the station, follow the Plessur river to Obere Au at the foot of the Calanda massif to Felsberg. Leave the village via the Rhine bridge to Domat/Ems. Shortly before the golf course, the flat riding ends. At Veia la Munt, the climb begins and requires muscle power up to Feldis. The mountain village, located on a sunny terrace at 1,500 m above sea level, offers an impressive high alpine backdrop with views of Piz Beverin, Tödi, Ringelspitz, Calanda, and many other peaks. For thirsty riders, it is important to refill fluids here.

From Feldis, a relaxing, gentle kilometer follows towards Scheid. At point 1498, the next climb begins. The paved road leads past blooming meadows and grazing cows up to Alp di Plaun at 1,953 m above sea level, where alpine farming is active in summer. At this point, you can decide whether to ride the “Lady Patricia Trail” towards Brambrüesch or turn right and then climb up to the Dreibündenstein. For the version presented here, follow the hiking path on the left to the Term Bel ski hut. From there, 200 meters uphill to the right and then the path branches off to the left (signposted "Lady Patricia"). Before reaching the actual high trail, there is a climb where the bike has to be pushed through a few tight hairpin bends for around 10-15 minutes. Once at the top, you can enjoy a technical, very beautiful single trail (also known as the "Bomber Trail") with fantastic panoramic views of the Bündner Rhine Valley.

In the middle of the high trail is the memorial stone “Lady Patricia,” where a US bomber crashed in 1944 (there are still a few wreck parts near the memorial stone). The narrow single trail crosses under the Dreibündenstein and rejoins the normal path about 300 meters above the Hühnerköpfe chairlift station. Now follows a flowing descent to Spundis, where you turn left onto a single trail towards Juchs. First flowing and then increasingly difficult, you reach Alp Juchs. The route continues demanding towards the valley before, at the end, a smooth and moderately steep single trail again provides a real flow feeling up to the edge of the Alpine city.
