Description
The normal approach to the hut starts in Rosenlaui. It sits like an eagle's nest on the ridge between the Gstelli and the Dossenhorn. The mountain path leads through an impressive landscape shaped by glaciers. The first section winds through the shading fir forest into the alpine terrain. Over wood, stone and moraine, the path winds upwards meter by meter. The last 600 meters altitude offer almost continuous alpine hiking terrain, which makes the ascent especially attractive. Difficult sections are equipped with wire ropes, ladders, and steps.
The magnificent view of the high alpine mountain world can be best enjoyed with coffee and haslkuchen (a type of cake).
The descent into the Urbachtal initially leads into a often snow-filled hollow. Scree, grass and rocky ledges alternate continuously on the descent. Thanks to the varied landscape and the fascinating panorama, the hardships fade into the background.
