The starting point is at the Red Square. There you already have the first opportunities to treat yourself to a good dessert before setting off. Café Rubens or the Restaurant Red Square. When the weather is nice, you can also sit outside. Look around; there is a lot to discover.
Now it begins. First, you climb one of the red Raiffeisen stairs up to Schreinerweg, then follow the Wassergasse briefly to the right before going up Gallusweg. Next, follows the long ascent via Falkenburgweg, with 529 steps, the longest stairway in St.Gallen. Higher and higher it goes. Keep looking back at the city. Once at the top, a beautiful panorama opens up to the city and Lake Constance, and to the west also to Fürstenland. Now you certainly deserve a big dessert, either inside or on the beautiful rooftop terrace of the "Falkenburg." After coffee and cake, continue on Kachelweg towards St.Georgen. Soon you turn left down the Klussteig, follow Folchartstrasse to the right down to Folchart stairs, then down to Wiesenstrasse on the right and to Wiesenweg, down past the Mühlegg pond. Between the first two ponds, you will find a very special kiosk on good weather days, the Milchhüsli. Peter runs it with great love for several years. Try the cinnamon flatbread. Highly, highly recommended. You can continue briefly along Dreilindenweg to the Restaurant Drei Linden. From here, the garden restaurant offers an unbelievably beautiful view with the most wonderful sunsets. Go back to the first staircase, the Gesstreppe. Here, every first Sunday in September, the Stägestadt Day takes place. A must for stairs and culture lovers. Go down the stairs, the city lies at your feet.
