Description
The trail starts at the parking lot behind the Tierfed – Kalktrittli cable car station. The original power plant was built in the 1960s and was expanded in the 2010s by a large pumped storage power plant that uses the water in the two reservoirs Muttsee and Limmernsee for energy production.
From the parking lot, a 1.4 km loop leads into the so-called Wüeschti, to the end of the Linth Gorge, and on the return path past the valley station of the Linth - Limmern power plant railway.
Then the trail leads on a 1.8 km loop through the Tierfed plain. The return follows the picturesque Linth river. Between the Linth and the trail is a border of frost-covered trees.
From the Tierfed plain loop, two further loops emerge: on one hand, the more challenging Riedwald loop of 2 km length, which runs next to one of the two balancing basins of the KLL up almost to the Furbach. This loop is also well suited as a training round for competitive skiers.
On the other hand, the Schreyenbachfall loop is located at the front end. It offers a breathtaking view of the Schreyenbach waterfall on the opposite valley side. At the front point of this 1.3 km loop there is also a playful fun park for young and old. After this loop, the return goes again through the Tierfed plain back to the parking lot.
