Description
After starting at the Bohrplatte - a beautiful rest area with a fireplace, water, covered shelter, WC, and playground - you circle the charming village of Finsterwald and then reach the Mettilimoos, a raised bog of national importance. Thousands of tons of peat were cut during the two World Wars in the Mettilimoos and at Wissenegg and burned in place of coal. The equipment used is exhibited in the peat hut in Mettilimoos. Information about the formation of raised bogs and peat extraction is provided on information boards in and at the "Turbeschürli." In summer, you can experience the beneficial effect of the peat yourself in the moor tread basin.
At Feldmoos, the three wind turbines are particularly visible. The next section through shady forest areas offers many berries to snack on in summer. At the Vordere Alpiliegg viewpoint, you will find a rest area as well as extensive views over the Central Plateau, even up to the Black Forest. After the descent from Wissenegg, the Fuchseremoos appears, also a protected raised bog. A short detour to the pond with a rest area is worthwhile.
