Description

A wonderful, rarely frequented hike in the beautiful Elmer mountain world.

The Alp Ramin is one of the largest alp areas in the Glarus region and is located in Elm. It is divided into three Stafel and is managed by the Marti family and two employees. The Stafel are connected by roads, water and electricity, which makes the management much easier.

The pastures are located between 1300 and 2300 m above sea level. Usually, 60 dairy cows and 180 cattle spend the summer on the alp.

The area lies in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Tektonikarena Sardona. You mainly hike in the flysch layers, a collective term for rocks that formed 50-35 million years ago in a deep sea trench as sediment debris from the slowly forming Alps.
