Description

The sandstone is marked with deep and long grooves, cups, step-like ledges, and various imprints from recent times. Fracture points indicate that stone was once quarried there. In popular language, the rock spur is called "Tüfelskänzeli" or "Hexenkänzeli", which dates back to the time of the Appenzell witch hunts (14th - 17th century). Many other legends exist about the stone, for example, it is said to have helped women with fertility. However, only the power of the stone is proven. The Chindlistei has an increased energy potential of 15,000 Bovis units. The west side of the sandstone is characterized by two natural recesses, in which three figures are painted.
