Description
From the Bellevue bus stop in Les Prés-d'Orvin you first take a small road to the hiking trail sign marked Chasseral. At the next intersection the path turns right. At the end of the road the real ascent begins through forest and over the wooded pastures typical of the Jura to Place Centrale. Over the centuries, farming pioneers cleared the forests and let their animals graze there. The ridge path continues further; the view of the Alps is already a foretaste of the panorama that awaits on the summit. Various farms serve hungry hikers with regional products.
The ridge path continues towards Clédar de Pierrefeu. The transmission tower, the landmark of the Chasseral, is already visible. But to reach the destination, a bit more endurance is needed. Uphill the path continues over the pastures bordered by the typical limestone rocks. On the sparse pastures bloom carnations, black nigritza, yellow gentian, and martagon lily.
The path from the summit to the Hôtel-Restaurant Chasseral leads over a short trail. Striking are the numerous dividing balks attached everywhere on the Chasseral summit. The measure promotes biodiversity, which is explained in detail on an information board.
