Central Thurgau castle route (Weinfelden – Sulgen)

The central Thurgau castle route starts in charming Weinfelden. The municipality lies in a gentle hilly landscape at the transition between the Thur Valley and Ottenberg. The landmark of Weinfelden, the castle, towers high above the winemaker’s town. Soon the hiking trail ascends and crosses the Ottenberg, richly planted with vines, before reaching Berg. Its landmark is also a castle, which is now used as a retirement home.

From Berg, the central Thurgau castle route gently descends into the Thur Valley and reaches the stage destination in Sulgen. The hike on the castle route is varied and interesting: past orchards, through forests and along waters. The rural villages and farmhouses richly decorated with flowers must not be forgotten.
