Description

From Riein, the ascent usually goes steadily uphill shortly after the start. The wide alpine meadows already hint at the beautiful descent slopes during the ascent. In front of the hut of Alp da Riein, one can enjoy a long break wonderfully. The view into the mountain world of the Surselva is already phenomenal here. Through blueberry bushes, which hopefully are no longer visible, you now climb towards the summit slope. This has steep sections and requires experience in route choice under corresponding conditions. You can ascend either via the steep north slope or over the shoulder. Now you stand on the spacious summit of Cauma and can finish the route here. The descent leads back along the ascent route to Riein.

Those who like it alpine continue up from Cauma to Dutjer Horn. The initially wide shoulder becomes more and more a narrow and steep ridge. Often you have to ascend without skis at the end. This addition is especially worth it under extremely safe conditions. Then you can descend via the very steep north slopes towards Dutjer Alp. The difficulty increases at Dutjer Horn from AD to AD+ (Cauma: PD).
