Description

Route number 3 starts at the Campra Nordic Ski Centre and crosses the Campra plain following the Brenno River.

It then climbs to Böcc di Scar to continue towards the wide plain of Pian Segno, before reaching Acquacalda. The welcoming Centro Pro Natura has rooms for overnight stays, a good restaurant and an InfoPoint.

From here, cross the road of the pass and take a slightly steeper trail to Croce Portera; from here, admire an exceptional panorama of Acquacalda and the entire surrounding region!

A gentle, wide path (carriage road) through the meadows leads to Dötra, where the hut is located. This last stretch (from Acquacalda to Dötra) is also an educational trail called Santéi dr'équa. Finally, return down a trail through a dense and fragrant coniferous forest which becomes an equally fascinating snowshoe trail in winter.

If we want to add a bit of history to this route, we can say that in the area before arriving at Campra, called Bollette, there are the remains of a quartz quarry: rock crystal was extracted for a variety of uses as far back as the Neolithic period, and it is likely that intensive mining took place in the Gallo-Roman era when high-quality craftsmanship flourished on the shores of Lake Maggiore.

We can assume that miners also reached the Lukmanier area considering that the pass, although uninhabited, was already known at that time.

Currently, the search for minerals is regulated by law.
