Description

From the Oberbütschel PostBus stop, the hiking trail briefly ascends westwards, then northwards over meadows to the road leading to the Bütschelegg restaurant. From here, you reach the ridge of the Bütschelegg in a few minutes, a well-known and much-visited viewpoint. Back at the restaurant, follow the hiking trail first through forest, then through open terrain to the Uecht observatory. In good weather, it is open to individuals and families every Wednesday evening. The observatory operator plans to build a new observatory, which architect Mario Botta is to realize. If everything goes smoothly, the groundbreaking will take place this year, 50 years after the first moon landing. From the Uecht observatory, the trail follows the flank of the Imihubel towards Ratzenberg, where the next hard-surface section awaits – the only downside of this half-day hike. Via Baumannshaus and Oberflüh you reach the beautifully situated village of Borisried, whose restaurant has been closed for some time. It is worth enjoying the view here one last time, as from here the trail steadily descends. First over meadows and through forest down, then walking along a hill until you finally pass the church of Oberbalm and shortly afterward reach the PostBus stop.
