Description
From the Brambrüesch mountain station, a short ascent follows first. Then the path mostly runs straight through the dense forest. After a short descent, there is a left turn and the path briefly climbs again. Now follows a narrow hiking trail that leads downhill towards Schönegg. Quite quickly, you immerse yourself in a different world in this area; dense vegetation and constantly surprising views down into the valley accompany the hiker. Instead of going to Schönegg, continue down and then turn right towards Sauerquelle. A partly exposed high-altitude path follows and soon the Sauerquelle (also called Surquellen) is reached; the water from the source actually tastes quite sour but is very mineral-rich and high in iron. The hiking trail continues spectacularly through the flanks of the mountain massif with breathtaking views downwards. Finally, you reach a forest road, follow it, and at the end after a short climb reach the Känzeli middle station. Those who prefer to go uphill can also take the route in the opposite direction.
