Description
The starting point at First is reached from Grindelwald by gondola in 25 minutes. From there, a marked winter hiking trail leads in just over 2.5 hours past Bachalpsee to Faulhorn - the highest point of this route. Besides the opportunity for a break, there is a unique panoramic view here over many parts of Switzerland. The highlight follows at the end: the descent towards Bussalp and, in good conditions, to Lochsteinen, covering a total of 1000 meters in altitude.
The special name "Big Pintenfritz" actually refers to the legendary host Fritz Bohren, who ran the "Pinte" (Hotel Bellevue) as well as the mountain hotel Faulhorn in Grindelwald.
Recommendation: In the morning, the sledding slopes from Bussalp are very easy to ride. From midday on, depending on temperature, the slopes become very spring-like and soft. We therefore recommend starting early in the morning on First for the Big Pintenfritz.
