Description
From the start in Neuchâtel, the route runs clockwise along the north-western shore. The route leads through well-kept wine-growing villages and quiet riverside communities, always with an unobstructed view of the lake and mountains. The south side is somewhat more open and characterized by agricultural areas, here too the racing bike runs on long straights and with mostly only gentle undulations. Short climbs and crisp ramps are scattered around Estavayer-le-Lac, Grandson and St-Aubin-Sauges, but the elevation profile remains extremely moderate. Small picnic areas and bathing spots invite you to take a short break before you pass the region's characteristic pile dwellings on the way back to Neuchâtel.
The route is ideal for anyone who wants to make good time without any major climbs and experience western Switzerland with its many lakes. The panorama changes constantly between the Jura and the lakeshore - on a clear day, you can even see the Alps on the horizon.
