Around Bern - through the Aare floodplains

The hike from Bern-Belp Airport to the Bear Park is immensely rewarding. On the left bank of the Aare up to Bodenacker, you first walk past the historic Auguet bridge. It once connected Rubigen with Belp. Between the Aare and the Giesse, the hiking trail leads into the floodplain area Selhofen Zopfen and to the confluence with the Gürbe. There the Bodenacker ferry (observe timetable) takes you over to the diverse Elfenau area with its floodplains and park areas. Along the animal park, you subtly enter the city of Bern and soon stand near the Federal Palace. Then follow the Aare, under the Kirchenfeld bridge, past Schwellenmätteli up to the Bear Park.
