Appenzeller Alpenweg – 2nd stage

While there is hustle and bustle around the valley station of the Säntis cable car at the beginning of the second section, you are almost on your own on the various alpine pastures afterwards, right in an intact and untouched natural landscape. Only the sound of cowbells reminds you that you cannot claim the world entirely for yourself. The stage leads over the Chammhalde to Gerstengschwend, a mountain formation praised in numerous folk songs. Over Blattendürren, you head downstream towards Urnäsch.
