642 Pignela - San Bernardino (Mesolcina)

MTB loop starting in S.Bernardino. When descending towards Pian S.Giacomo, you pass through an impressive natural landscape: the small lake Doss, the Forcola region with its modernized historic houses, the pastures, and the dense forests. Without noticing it, you reach the tourist village Pian S.Giacomo, located at 1200m above sea level. From there, the ascent to S.Bernardino begins. From Pian S.Giacomo, you follow the riverbed until you reach the Sterweg. It climbs until you reach the dam of Lake Isola. Along this Sterweg, you find a Roman bridge and a "colonar" fir tree. Once you reach the artificial Lake Isola, the road climbs much more gently and then you reach the departure station of the S.Bernardino cable car. In a few minutes, you return to the village where you started.
