Description

Simple, flat, sunny. Preferably in the middle of untouched nature and, if possible, with a great view. Anyone who imagines cross-country skiing like this will like the trail in Lauenen. The picturesque mountain village of Lauenen with its old wooden houses and the venerable church from the 16th century is only a stone's throw from the ski resort of Gstaad, where there is bustling activity in winter. Anyone wishing for cross-country skiing amid untouched landscapes is right here, in one of the five side valleys of the well-known holiday region.

The cross-country ski trail starts at the bridge at Rohr. It runs along the Louwibach through the snow-covered, sunny moor and floodplain area of Rohr. The continuously flat trail is adorned with so-called Tristen. These are large, cone-shaped haystacks stacked around a long wooden pole and stored in the traditional way. In their winter outfit, they present a curious sight.

The trail is especially suitable for beginners and those who want to enjoy themselves. A longer and a shorter round are available, always accompanied by the impressive mountain backdrop with the towering Spitzhorn. With some luck, you may encounter a passing husky team or a horse-drawn carriage.
