170.4 Schiltenegg cross-country ski trail, classic + skating

Embedded in a wonderful mountain landscape lies the Sparenmoos cross-country ski trail. The area at the foot of the Hundsrügg above Zweisimmen has already been the venue for the Swiss cross-country skiing championships several times. It consists of a varied mosaic of moors, pastures, and small woods. Due to its special beauty and the variety of moor types, the Sparenmoos-Nujeberg area, through which the ski trail is groomed, is considered a moor landscape of national importance.

The trail on the snow-sure, sun-blessed high plateau impresses with a varied route through the gentle hilly landscape. It enchants with a fantastic view from the Stockhorn to Les Diablerets. From the start at the mountain house Sparenmoos, it initially goes towards Site-Alp, from where the view opens into the Simmental. At the alpine hut Schiltenegg, the route turns back and an additional loop towards Hüsliberg is completed. On the return way to the mountain house Sparenmoos, you can let your gaze wander again into the valley and to the Vaud Alps. Anyone who wishes can conclude the cross-country skiing experience at the buffet right at the finish with a snack made from regional products.
