Rapperswil
The city of roses on Lake Zurich
Rappi – as the locals affectionately call Rapperswil-Jona – combines history with modern life. There is plenty to do for families in Rappi. Rapperswil Castle towers over the town and lake, and there is a small playground on the castle hill. If you walk down behind the castle, you will discover fallow deer, various play installations and a large playground by the lake – a great place for a leisurely stroll with the kids. Enjoy the magnificent view on the way back along the lake to the city. At the Fischmarktplatz, you can finally enjoy a long-awaited dieci ice cream. If you just want to enjoy it: the scheduled boats of the Lake Zurich Navigation Company also operate from Rapperswil. And of course there is also the children's zoo – Rappi is a true family paradise.
For those who want to go a little further, the Obersee circular route starts in Rapperswil – around Zurich's Obersee, it offers nature experiences and fun. At many of the experience points, hikers and cyclists can learn interesting facts about the region. In total, there are around 37 kilometres that can be discovered on foot or by bike. The route is divided into six stages, varying in length from 6.5 to 12 kilometres. All sections are therefore perfectly suitable for families and can be walked for free. The path around Obersee is suitable for prams and bicycles and is a rewarding excursion destination in all seasons.
