Altdorf

The small town of Altdorf has much to offer, both old and new: Its diverse cultural offerings, from traditional events such as the Tell plays to the modern “Alpentöne” music festival, radiate far beyond the borders of Uri. The Italianità of its architecture, squares and alleyways gives a sense of its proximity to the south and the village center with the Tell monument is of national importance. In summer, the region in and around Altdorf offers its visitors countless leisure activities. The lake beckons with excursions to Switzerland's historical sites or water sports. By train, post bus and cable car, on the other hand, you can be whisked away into the nearby mountains or explore them on foot or by bike.
