Lourdes Grotto Leuggern
Description
This Marian shrine was built in 1928/29 under the most difficult conditions and with the great commitment of the then Leuggern parish priest Xaver Knecht, mainly as a labourer. The Lourdes Grotto is maintained by the foundation council of the same name. This place of contemplation and prayer in the middle of nature is frequently visited and is known far beyond the country's borders. Every year, many thousands of candles are lit here out of gratitude and devotion to God. The upkeep can be financed with donations. Many a bridal couple has said "I do" in this tranquil place. In the month of May, in addition to the Sunday May devotions, devotions are often celebrated several times a week, often organised by groups of visitors.
Opening Hours
The Lourdes Grotto can be visited all year round.
