Eyenriedschopf

Description

Eyenriedschopf is a rocky shelter. This is considered the first Middle Stone Age resting place found in the Swiss Alps. Excavations here have brought to light ibex bones as well as stone and crystal implements from prehistoric hunters (the first humans in the Diemtigtal). The Eyeriedschopf is a rock shield under the Schurtenfluh. It is possible that a large group of people only sought shelter here for a short time at a time. The rock shelter offered protection from rain and snow. A signposted 1 km long history and culture theme trail leads from Anger (busstop) to the 80 m high-lying Eyenriedschopf (trail information only in German). target_blank:
