The Hopfräben nature reserve is located next to the Muota estuary, directly on Lake Lucerne, in the municipality of Ingenbohl-Brunnen. The western part is a nature reserve and includes an intact shallow water zone with the species composition typical for this habitat. This fen is of national importance. At the same time, the Hopfräben is also the location of commercial activities and is considered a recreational and leisure area for the people of Brunnen. It is ideal for swimming, picnicking and strolling. A popular section of the Waldstätterweg leads to Gersau.
