Lucerne Carnival

Lucerne Carnival is considered one of the largest and most famous carnival events in Switzerland. Every year, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city. For six days, Lucerne’s streets and squares are filled with music, creativity, and living tradition. The festivities kick off with the traditional “Big Bang” on Fat Thursday at 5 a.m. This is followed by highlights such as the Fritschi Parade, the Wey Parade, and the spectacular Monstercorso, during which numerous Guuggemusig bands and carnival groups parade through the city. Drums and brass instruments ring out everywhere, confetti swirls through the air, and Lucerne’s downtown becomes the largest carnival stage in Central Switzerland.
