Description

«Il capitale umano» | Film Screening Thursday, 9 October 2026 | 8:45 pm | Piazza del Sole, Bellinzona Sconfinare Festival

On Christmas Eve, on a road in Brianza, a cyclist is hit by an SUV and left by the roadside. The accident brings together the intertwined destinies of two families: that of Dino Ossola, an ambitious and restless real-estate developer, and that of Giovanni Bernaschi, a powerful financier accustomed to moving through the opaque worlds of privilege and speculation.

With the precision of a moral thriller, Paolo Virzì creates a multi-layered portrait of wealth, the desire for social advancement, the fragility of human relationships and the price – human before it is economic – of individual choices. As Giovanni Bernaschi, Fabrizio Gifuni embodies a figure who is cold, elegant and ruthless, giving shape to one of the most unsettling faces of contemporary power: one that measures everything, even human life, according to the logic of profit.

Winner of the 2014 David di Donatello Award for Best Film, «Il capitale umano» is one of the most incisive works of recent Italian cinema. The screening connects with the event Quando la parola diventa scena, which will feature Fabrizio Gifuni alongside Stefano Bartezzaghi.
