Beschreibung

As a proper days mountain biking it is difficult to beat this tour. The vast majority of the tour is on singletrail and it brings you through the heart of the alps through some of the finest scenery you will find anywhere. The tour is a lot more physical than the statistics might imply, especially for those unfamiliar with riding in Alpine terrain. Don't let the fact that you arrive easily at Jochpass with the help of the lifts fool you into thinking this is an easy day in the mountains.

There are a number of highlights on the tour for me. The view from Jochpass down to Engstlensee gets me right in the mood for a great day in the alps from the very start. The views from the top of Balmeregghorn of the Trift Glacier and the Berneroberland are absolutely stunning on a sunny day. The traverse from Balmeregghorn to Planblatten is an experience in itself and often here you feel like you are in the clouds as they litterly fly past you changing the weather from sunshine to fog in a matter of minutes.

The traverse of the ski area in Meirignen is for the most part quite flowy with a few short but sharp climbs before and after Kaiserstadt. From Kaiserstadt it is possible to descend to Meiringen, but it is worth the effort to get up to Gibel for the views of Brienzer and Lungern lakes and also the singletrail descent to the train station in Lungern.
