Description
On the valley trail from Gadmen to Innertkirchen, you mostly progress on level ground or gently descending. You gain an insight into the diverse cultural landscapes.
A delightful way to explore the unspoilt Gadmertal valley is to hike along the valley path from Gadmen to Innertkirchen. Most of the time you walk on gravel paths, sometimes on little roads with hardly any traffic, and occasionally on meadow paths.
The valley trail leads from Gadmen first via Furen to Twirgi. The pretty hamlet is surrounded by the diverse meadows and pastures of the Firschlachteni, Erli and Hofstatt areas. In recognition of their services to the preservation of these landscape gems, their farmers were honoured with the cultural landscape award of the Oberland-Ost region in 2012. The eye-catcher of the area is an extensively used, species-rich pasture with many stone walls, bushes and fruit trees. The terrain is interspersed with rocky parts, and in between there are wet areas with orchids and cotton grasses.
From the village of Nessental, the trail leads to Schwendi, then along a meadow path through a wide, green plain flanked on both sides by mountain forest. From the hamlet of Hopflauenen, you descend gently to Wiler; the descent to Innertkirchen is somewhat steeper.
