Tomülpass and Strätscherhorn in the Safiental valley
Informationen zur Route
Best Time of Year
Description
The tour starts at the Turrahus restaurant. The 300-year-old Walserhaus is the perfect place to stop for refreshments before or after the tour. The ascent along the old Passweg does not start as flat as would be ideal for a run-in. However, you quickly gain altitude. In the area of the Falätscher Hütta, the trail is somewhat flatter again and you can recover well. At around 2100 meters above sea level, a short but very steep slope has to be overcome. This is often tricky and should only be tackled in safe conditions. Over the last 300 meters of altitude, the mountain world becomes increasingly exciting and impressive. We are often close to the historic Passweg trail, which is certainly barely visible under the deep blanket of snow.
On the Tomül Pass, you can either descend again with a small additional loop on the ascent route or take the Strätscherhora under your snowshoes. The beautiful plateau towards the summit is an excellent experience and well worth the effort. After around 150 meters in altitude, you reach the summit and can now descend over the broad shoulder. Here we indicate the variant directly to Wanna. However, you can also take the longer route via Alp Pianetsch. With both variants, it is essential to pay attention to the wildlife rest areas.
