Description
We cross the Thur, follow it to the left, and after one kilometer branch off to the steep vineyard slope "Steig" west of the Schiterberg. Through a mixed forest we reach Oerlingen, cross the A4 and cross a fertile plain along the Niderbach. Then we hike between moraine hills to Rudolfingen, an exemplary farming village at the foot of the Cholfirst. At the edge of the vineyard slope, we climb steeply upwards and continue through a small-scale landscape to the remote village of Wildensbuch (tip: A new observation tower has been erected on the Hochwacht north of Wildensbuch, offering a fantastic panoramic view). Past the old schoolhouse with a small clock tower, we reach the magnificent viewpoint path above the vineyards of Benken. At the well-known excursion restaurant Guggeeren, we quench our thirst under old, magnificent trees and let our gaze wander into the distance, over the fertile wine region towards the Irchel and the Lägern. In clear weather, the Alps can even be seen to the southeast. We walk along the forest edge gently downhill to the Anderbach and follow this to the venerable timber-framed buildings of the village of Dachsen.
