Description

From the Flüelen boat, train and bus station, the hike begins at a leisurely pace along the lakeside promenade. This is soon followed by a fairly steep climb over skilfully crafted steps to the old Axenstrasse road. Directly above the rock, you hike along the path of the first north-south road on Lake Uri with a magnificent view of the lake and mountains. After a section of forest with a southern feel, you reach the largest carillon in Switzerland.

80 stone steps lead you downhill to Tell's Chapel on the lake and the boat station. Continue along the elegant wooden footbridge alongside Lake Uri. The path now runs up and down. Incidentally, it was built in 1983 as the ‘Bundesrat Hürlimann’ trail. On the north side of the small tunnel at Axenstrasse, a large Uristier painted on the wall greets you. A flight of steps finally takes you to the railway and boat station in the village of Sisikon.
