The mountains of Herisau and their sweeping views

The hike from Herisau-Wilen to Rechberg, Buechschachen and Lutzenland offers views in all directions, looking out over the rolling hills of the Hinterland and Mittelland districts, the Alpstein massif, Fürstenland region and Lake Constance. Nature offers plenty of variety here, with flower meadows, forests and a pool.

Agriculture is omnipresent around the central Herisau area, its hills dotted with farms. Here and there lie eco-meadows where nature flourishes freely, with a multitude of colourful flowers. The Saumweiher pond, a nature conservation area and habitat for amphibians, birds and insects, is also a paradise for flowers and grasses.
