Description

With every meter of altitude, every bend and every bridge it gets more and more wintry. Over 350 curves have to be negotiated from Chur up to Arosa. The toboggan run is quite straight downhill immediately after the start. The start is at Untersee, which lies at almost 1700 metres. The track follows the tracks of the red Arosa line to the Isel reservoir about 100 metres further down. Shortly afterwards the train line is crossed. From here it goes along the river Plessur over gentle curves. The track leads mostly through dense fir forests. In the second half, in the steep terrain - on the right hand side of the foaming Plessur - is the huge erosion funnel Blau Rüfi. While the Rhaetian Railway now makes two wide bends, the toboggan run leads directly to the "in da Brünscht" area and to the finish in Litzirüti. Settled by Walser, the village at 1450 metres originally consisted of individual farmsteads. Today it lives almost exclusively from summer and especially winter tourism. The RhB returns to Arosa every hour. All in all, this toboggan run is a little less fast-paced and ideal for enjoying. Also because of the beautiful view: again and again, between the narrow standing fir trees, the view opens up to the peaks of the region, including the Schiesshorn or the Tijerfluh. And if the trees block the view, with a bit of luck you might discover one or the other forest inhabitant.
