Description
From the picturesque village square of Sils Maria you follow the carriage road uphill and pass the imposing historic Hotel Waldhaus. Here you can already enter the front Fex valley. In the valley of Vaüglia you turn right towards Val Fedoz. Now the tarred road ends and from here you cycle along a varied bike and hiking trail. Through fragrant mountain forests and past flower-speckled alpine meadows, you will reach the Petpreir and Ca d'Starnam Alps and descend to Plan Brüsciabräga and find yourself on the shores of Lake Sils.
Let your bike roll comfortably on the road, all the way to the former smuggler village of Maloja. You cross the pass village to enjoy the magnificent view from a viewing platform down to the winding pass road to Bergell. After a short stretch along the road, a fork to the left shows the way via Orden and Salecina to a bridge. Below it rushes the Orlegna, a gushing mountain stream from Val Forno. Here you can also admire a striking dam wall that acts as a storm and flood protection for the Bergell. After crossing the Orlegna bridge, the alpine road climbs and leads through a mountain forest, past rocks and flowers to the enchanting Lägh da Cavloc.
In high summer, this idyllically situated mountain lake invites you to take a refreshing dip and the fireplaces on the lakeside invite you to enjoy a picnic. From the terrace of the small mountain restaurant Cavloccio, life can be enjoyed wonderfully, while nature and panorama pamper mind & soul. Those who wish to cycle further into the valley can cycle past the goat Alp to Plan Canin, where the valley branches off. A challenging alternative is the crossing of the historic Murettopass to Italy in the neighbouring Val Malenco. If you prefer to return to Sils from the crystal-clear Lägh da Cavloc, use the same route as on the way there. A great descent with a view of the Lake Sils of the very first order! The way back is even easier for bikers who would like to avoid the renewed ascent on the official bike route No. 1 into Val Fedoz, then also via Isola they can return to Sils on trail No. 25 high above Lake Sils.
