Description
The Tscheurig snowshoe trail starts in Thalkirch. Before you set off, it's worth taking a look at the small Thal church. It impresses with its subtle simplicity. The trail then branches off to the right of the valley road opposite the Alte Post post bus stop.
The trail climbs steadily and gently up to the lower Tscheurig huts and on to Alp Tscheurig. From here, the trail becomes a little steeper and you become increasingly aware of the pronounced terrain chambers at the foot of the Tällihorn. At an altitude of around 2,100 meters, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the end of the valley with the dominant Weisshorn. If you watch the surroundings carefully, you may even spot ptarmigans.
After crossing the Gasslitobel, the descent to Alp Guw begins and continues to the Turrahus mountain inn and the Thalkirch/Turrahus post bus stop. Right next door in the Turrahus exhibition stables, visitors can learn interesting facts about the settlement of the Safiental and the wooden buildings and stables typical of the valley. You can even try your hand at shingling a roof yourself. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can satisfy their hunger in the nearby Turrahus mountain inn or in the Hofbeizli Gassli with fine regional delicacies.
