Round trip from Thusis to the Rhine Gorge

An impressive tour through varied landscapes along the wide valley floor of the Hinterrhein and along the unique Rhine Gorge in the lowest section of the Vorderrhein, the Ruinaulta, to Ilanz.

The section from Ilanz via Laax to Tamins runs along the busy cantonal road. Caution: before Flims and in Trin-Mulin, change to the road through the village and do not use the bypass tunnels.

At Tamins, turn right down to the historic hamlet of Reichenau, where the Vorderrhein and Hinterrhein rivers meet. After crossing the bridge over the Vorderrhein, the route leads via Bonaduz to Rhäzüns and continues on the left side of the Hinterrhein to the Rothenbrunnen junction, where you change to the other side of the river. At the bottom of the Domleschg valley, the route follows the right bank of the river back to Thusis.
