Description
The hike to the pilgrimage church S. Romerio in Valposchiavo is considered the classic route of the valley. From the starting point in Poschiavo, the path leads over Barghi and the fork above Cologna, passing numerous alpine farms that brighten the appearance of the west flank. Along the route, impressive views open up to the mountain ranges Piz Lagalb, Corn da Campasc, Piz Cancian, Pizzo Scalino, Piz Varuna, Piz Mürasc, Corn dal Solcun and the Giümelin. High above Lago di Poschiavo, dreamlike panoramas unfold, rounding off the Bergamasque Alps to the south. From San Romerio, the path leads partly steep and rocky over the alpine farm Piaz to La Greda, continuing to Alp Predasc and finally via Viano to Brusio. The section between Viano and Brusio is paved.
This route is part of the collection “Hidden Gems along the RhB Line” and can ideally be combined with the Rhaetian Railway. The Graubünden Pass allows flexible use of train rides.
