Description

On the way to the Planet Trail, you first cross the Emme via the Waldegg Bridge, where the former Wasenmeisterei is on the left. The Wasenmeister was responsible for skinning and taking animal carcasses under the Wasen (ground). Like the executioner, the profession of Wasenmeister was disreputable and dishonorable. The path continues through the Waldegghole, which was part of the late medieval market route Burgdorf-Kaltacker-Affoltern. Through the Waldegghole, Brunnstubenweg, and Binzberghole, you reach the Binzberg.

At the exit from the forest, the sun model is located slightly above the road on the right, where the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars follow on concrete posts at distances corresponding to the scale of the universe. The Binzberg is the oldest mentioned city farm. In 1343, the Sels monastery sold the tithe to Peter von Seedorf in Bern. Since 1424, the Binzberg has been municipal. The current farmhouse with its late-classical facade was built in 1902. The granary dates from 1791.

Before entering the forest towards the Deuchelacher forester's house, you encounter Jupiter. From 1347 to 1798, the clergy of Heimiswil also had to hold services in the Siechenkapelle near Burgdorf. The connecting path, called the Pfaffenweg, leads from Heimiswil via Deuchelacher to Burgdorf. From here, at the lower forest edge (signpost viewpoint), there is a beautiful view of the village of Heimiswil.

Further along, you encounter Saturn in the forest at the Obere Rüglen. Continuing over the Egg, after a while on the left side of the road is the model of Uranus. Before descending to Kaltacker, on the left roadside there is the nail smithy. Here in 1805, Jakob and Samuel Stalder started producing forged nails as a sideline to farming. By pressing a button from outside, the room is lit, and visitors get a view inside the workshop through the window.

At the road junction near the Kaltacker schoolhouse, the path continues over the Guetisberg farm group to the Rutschiweid farmstead, where the model of Neptune is located. The path now descends into the Chänerechtäli and ascends on the opposite side continuing towards Wynigen. At the first houses, you encounter Pluto, the former ninth planet of the solar system. Since 2006, Pluto is no longer classified as a planet but as a dwarf planet and is assigned to the Kuiper Belt, a zone with numerous small planets outside the solar system. Compared to the planetary orbits, Pluto’s orbit is also significantly more eccentric.

When reaching the village of Wynigen via Luegstrasse, on the right side of the street in Mühligässli, there is a notable granary painted with the cantonal coats of arms from 1759.
