Description
This route can ideally be combined with a visit to the Camille Bloch chocolate factory in Courtelary. If buildings along the route could speak, they would tell of the economic boom thanks to the watch industry, its decline, and the settlement of new trades and industries. At the starting point of the hike, Courtelary station, the destination Sonceboz is marked. From the station, turn right onto the main road, Grande Rue. Follow it downstream, turn left into the residential street La Châtelaine, and cross the Schüss for the first time. Now turn right onto the Promenade de la Suze (Schüss Promenade). The route continues alternately along the left and right banks downstream. In Cortébert, cross the cantonal road and the Biel La Chaux-de-Fonds railway line. Shortly after the railway crossing, turn left. Soon after, continue on a field path, then on a newly created footpath to the railway line. Shortly before Corgémont, the hiking route leaves the railway track. Crossing a meadow, you come back to the Schüss riverbank and into the village of Corgémont. Before the railway crossing, turn right. Along the railway line, the route leads to the destination, Sonceboz-Sombeval station. Immediately after passing under the railway through a tunnel-like underpass, you cross the Schüss for the tenth and final time.
