Orchids at the Lag digl Oberst in Laax

Up to 10 different orchids can be admired on this route. Every few weeks different species bloom, so the hike can be undertaken several times. The landscape with the lonely lake is under national protection and was one of the first objects to be included in the Federal Inventory of Wetlands of National Importance for Birds and Amphibians. Furthermore, the area around the Lag digl Oberst is an important wildlife reserve. In the 1960s, around 30 Laax farmers regularly mowed the 50 to 60 plots of land in the area. Today, the maintenance work is carried out by farmers in cooperation with the community and the responsible authorities.
