Lombachalp – Augstmatthorn: Spectacular summit hike with panoramic views

The hike to Augstmatthorn starts at Lombachalp and leads directly on the hiking trail to Augstmatthorn. The ascent is steep and physically demanding, but the reward is a breathtaking view of Lake Brienz and the surrounding mountains. The route is approximately 6.4 km long and takes about 3 hours. The path is well marked and passes through alpine meadows and along ridges. With some luck, you can spot ibex on the way.

For the return, several options are available. Particularly appealing is the variant via the summit "Suggiture." From the point at 2101 meters, follow the ridge further and be rewarded with impressive views. Then the path descends more steeply down to an elevation of 1878 meters – here, trekking poles are very helpful. Afterwards, the trail leads through the western flank of Augstmatthorn and brings you back to Lombachalp.
