Hundwiler Höhi-Route

ROUTE The first section of the Hundwiler Höhe circuit has it all. Starting from Urnäsch, the route leads past the Osteregg and the Blattendürren mountain restaurants up to Lauftegg. From up there you can enjoy a magnificent view of Appenzell’s scenery as well as the mountain peaks of the Alpstein massif. Continue with a downhill run to Jakobsbad, where a visit to the adventure park and a ride on the toboggan run come highly recommended. From Jakobsbad, it's a short stretch to Gonten, from where you tackle the climb to Hundwiler Höhe. The unique panorama and the option of dining at the mountain inn definitely invite you to linger. After the Hundwiler Höhe, the trail descends again into lower terrain, winding past meadows and fields until you arrive back in Urnäsch.
