Description

A beautiful and varied hike to the Muttsee, the highest reservoir in Europe. The hike starts in Tierfehd, where the first 1000 meters of altitude can be conquered with the KLL Tierfehd-Kalktrittli cable car.

Hike via Muttenwändli:

From the mountain station, the marked hiking trail leads via Chalchtrittli, Nüschen, Muttenwändli to the hut. This trail has been extended and widened, exposed areas are adequately equipped with chains - appox. 2.5 hrs. from the mountain station / T3.

Hike through the gallery:

From the mountain station, a marked hiking trail leads through the power plant tunnel (approx. 3 km) to Lake Limmeren. From there on the renovated and widened hiking trail ascends over mortar to the hut. This trail dries quickly after precipitation due to its south-facing location - 2.5 hrs. from the mountain station / T2 (a short passage secured with chains T3). Sturdy shoes are indispensable here.

Access from Linthal:

Via Auengüter / Obbort: If you want to start from Linthal without the cable car, walk via Auengüter to Obbort and through the "Tritt" to Baumgartenalp. From there via Tor, Nutzenbrunnen, Gälb Chopf, Nüschenalp, Muttenwändli to the hut. The "Tritt" is tricky in wet conditions, especially on the descent. (6 to 7 hours from Linthal SBB / T4)

Via Pantenbrugg: From Linthal west along the Linth to Tierfehd and further via Pantenbrugg, Üeli, Schwamm to Baumgartenalp. From there via Geisstritt, Ober Baumgarten, Chalchtrittli, Nüschenalp, Muttenwändli to the hut. 6 to 7 hours from Linthal SBB / T3
