Hike to 'Eretsloch' where once upon a time ore was looked for and maybe also found.

The so-called 'Eretsloch', a gallery (tunnel) of about 15 metres length in which you can get in - at first with a stoop, then upright - has its story. Anything definite about it is not known though, and the spelling of the name varies in the old records as well between 'Erez-' and 'Eretsloch'.

It was Peter von Finer, the most distinguished personality from the families of the venerable nobility lineage of Grüsch, who let this tunnel drive into 'Landquartberg' around the year 1535 to gain ore. There is nothing known about any success, but even nowadays glittering rock can be seen inside the cave which shows that the effort at that time was not unfounded.

Peter von Finer was busy with mining at other places, too. More over he was an influential politician at that time with many different duties such as governor of Tirano, 1529 curate and 1533 head of the government in Veltlin. From 1542 to 1556 he was landvogt on the castle 'Casels'  and ruled over the people of the Prättigau, and from 1541 - 1534 he was the owner of the baths of Fideris. In 1537 he and his wife Maria von Flachsland became the owners of today's Krone in Grüsch by paying an annual  tax for several years.
