Description

If you want to learn more about the geology beneath Baden, this path is the right one for you.

Wherever you go, in Baden you are moving along rock strata millions of years old. The Geopath explains how they have changed over time, what influence the Limmat has had and whether there really was a lake where Baden stands today. Geological points of interest are marked on orientation boards at Chrüzliberg, Hundsbuck, Stein Castle, Martinsbergkänzeli, Lägernkopf, the lower old town and the spa district. Fun fact: the cobblestones of the Kronengasse street are made up of river debris, which was probably retrieved from the Limmat bed. It contains numerous rocks from the northern Alps and the foothills of the Alps. Among them are also a few rare specimens, which only occur in a relatively small area of the Alps.
